Final Activity: "The Evolution of Photography – Interactive Exhibition" (Using Genially)

I really enjoyed the Genially activity from Maria Angeles´s blogs I commented on. The interactive and visually appealing format made the content engaging and easy to understand. Inspired by this, I will design a final task using Genially with my students.

📸 Objective:

Students will create an interactive digital exhibition using Genially to showcase the evolution of photography, from its origins to the modern selfie culture.

🔹 Stages of the Activity:

1️⃣ Group Formation & Topic Selection

Students will be divided into small groups (3-4 students).

  • Each group will focus on a specific period in photography history (e.g., Early Photography, Film Cameras, Digital Revolution, The Rise of Selfies).

2️⃣ Research & Content Development

  • Groups will research key photographers, technological advancements, and cultural impacts of their assigned period.

  • They will gather images, historical facts, and interesting trivia.

3️⃣ Creating the Interactive Exhibition in Genially

  • Using Genially, each group will design an interactive timeline or virtual exhibition with:
✅ Clickable images and information boxes
✅ Short quiz questions to engage viewers
✅ Embedded videos or animations for a dynamic experience

4️⃣ Classroom Exhibition & Exploration

  • Each group will present their digital exhibition to the class.

  • Other students will navigate the exhibitions and answer quiz questions to test their knowledge.

5️⃣ Peer Feedback & Reflection

  • Students will provide feedback on each other’s exhibitions, focusing on clarity, creativity, and engagement.

  • A class discussion will reflect on how photography has shaped communication and self-expression.

🔹 Why this activity?
✅ Encourages collaborative learning
✅ Develops research and summarizing skills
✅ Improves digital literacy
✅ Reinforces critical thinking and creativity
✅ Enhances public speaking and interactive presentation skills

This Genially-based interactive exhibition will allow students to actively engage with history while developing essential 21st-century skills.

  1. I really enjoyed reading your blog! The way you incorporate digital tools into your teaching, like Genially, Storyjumper, and Edpuzzle, demonstrates a creative and engaging approach to language learning. The detailed reflections on your student projects show your commitment to fostering both collaboration and creativity, which is fantastic for student development.
One thing I think could enhance your blog even more is perhaps sharing specific examples of student feedback or learning outcomes from these activities. It would provide a more concrete sense of how these tools impact your students' skills. Additionally, adding a section on tips for teachers new to these tools could be helpful, especially for those who may feel overwhelmed by integrating new tech into their classrooms.
Overall, your blog is inspiring, and I love how you're constantly exploring innovative ways to make learning enjoyable and effective for your students. Keep up the great work!
